Gabe Houtz

Gabe Houtz is a senior from Quincy High School and attends the Branch Area Careers Center’s Environmental & Agri-Science program. His On-The-Job-Training placement is a Farm Hand with Ayr-Shire Farms under the supervision of Gene Sickels. Gabe is responsible for scraping the barns, moving cows into holding pens, mixing feed, inspecting cows, moving cows to other barns, and working with calves. He also assists during grain harvest. Gabe’s favorite part of his job is mixing feed and operating equipment during harvest season. He feels his OJT position has helped him learn time management, more about livestock, and the expectations of working. Gabe’s future plans are to work full time at Abbott Labs while pursing training and certification as a lineman. Ultimately, he would like a career at Consumers Energy. At the BACC, Gabe is an FFA member and has earned his Greenhand, Outstanding Junior and Chapter degrees. He is also tractor safety certified. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and hunting and fishing. Gabe is the son of Joe and Jodi Houtz.
