Students who are accepted into the program will have a bonus year of high school where they will be attending KCC classes to meet their educational goals. The advantage of participating in this program is two-fold. First, the student is able to be a full time college student, but your local high school will cover most all the cost of classes and books . Secondly, the student has the added support of both high school and college staff to help guide the student through the first year of full time college classes helping to ensure a successful transition to full time college life.

To be accepted into the program students must complete the application and earn a qualifying score on the Accuplacer test. Once a student is accepted into the program, students and parents will have an interview with the Branch County Early College team to ensure that this program is a good fit.

   What is an Early College?
       Expand

Bonus year of high school

Financial assistance for up to 62 college credits, tuition, books, and fees

Support in your first year of college

College visits

FAFSA assistance

College application assistance

Scholarship assistance

Who can apply to be a part of the Branch County Early College (BCEC)?
       Expand

High school sophomores who meet academic eligibility

What is the process of applying to the BCEC?
       Expand

Student presentations begin in February

Parent/Guardian presentations begin in February

Accuplacer testing happens at each high schools in February/March

Student interviews happen at each high school in March/April

Planning classes happens individually in March/April/May

Orientation is required and is in August for incoming students

Registration is open in June and is handled by KCC staff

First-Year Seminar Course (FYS 101) is in June or August for incoming students

How far can this program take me?
       Expand

Associate Degree from Kellogg Community College

Two classes per semester in 11th grade, three per semester in 12th, 30+ credits in 13th

Transferable credits to another college or university

Industry certificate

MEMCA certificate

But I really wanted to ________________________ in high school:
       Expand

Take extra math/science/english/social studies/foreign language classes

Take as many electives as possible

Go to the BACC

Take AP courses

Dual enroll

You still can, these are all options for many of the programs!

How do I know if this is a good fit?
       Expand

Were you planning on college courses after high school?

Were you planning on attending Kellogg Community College?

Michigan Transfer Agreement

Then the BCEC is a great fit for you!

   What is the next step?
       Expand

Submit application –
