{"id":43,"date":"2016-10-18T17:11:54","date_gmt":"2016-10-18T17:11:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/branch-isd.org\/bacc\/?page_id=43"},"modified":"2023-09-01T17:34:34","modified_gmt":"2023-09-01T17:34:34","slug":"attendance","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www2.branch-isd.org\/bacc\/attendance\/","title":{"rendered":"Attendance"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\t<h1><a name=\"m_6788942691681828423_m_-3742914841843196396__Toc138156703\"><\/a><em>ATTENDANCE POLICY<\/em><\/h1>\n<p>The Branch Area Careers Center places a high priority on attendance.\u00a0 The attendance pattern a student establishes at the BACC sets a pattern for their employment or continuing education after graduation from high school.<\/p>\n<p>To benefit from the primary purpose of the school experience, it is essential and expected students maintain regular and punctual daily attendance.\u00a0 Attendance in a Career and Technology Education Program at the BACC will affect grades earned by students.\u00a0 30% of students&#8217; grades are based on accountability skills and 20% of students&#8217; grades are based on attendance, which is the number one skill desired by industries.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The purpose of the attendance policy is to help students develop regular and punctual attendance in order to maintain academic standards for earning credit.\u00a0 Regular attendance enables a student to hear and participate in class instruction, discussion and lab experiences.\u00a0 Such experiences cannot be developed at home or when frequently late.<\/p>\n<p>Parents\/Guardians can view your student&#8217;s attendance information on Skyward Family Student Access.\u00a0 Please call the BACC Attendance Office at 279-5700 for access information.\u00a0 Please note that this account is separate from the local school&#8217;s accounts.<\/p>\n<h2><em>Definition of an Absence<\/em><\/h2>\n<p>Absences are divided into two categories: Excused and Unexcused.<\/p>\n<p>Excused absences are defined as absences that are school sanctioned, school related releases including, college visits that are pre-arranged with your sending school and suspensions.\u00a0 Other absences that are considered excused include\u00a0<strong>documented&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0doctor&#8217;s appointments<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0hospitalization<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0funerals<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0court and legal proceeding appointments<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0religious activities or holidays<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0driving tests<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0fair show days<\/p>\n<p>Unexcused absences are all other absences.<\/p>\n<p>Written documentation for days not in attendance must be provided within 24 hours of return, and given to the Main Office.\u00a0 The documentation will be placed in the student&#8217;s file.\u00a0 Parent verbal confirmation without proper written documentation will be considered an unexcused absence.<\/p>\n<h2><em>Definition of a Tardy<\/em><\/h2>\n<p>Tardiness is recorded anytime a student arrives 30 minutes or less late to class or leaves class 30 minutes or less early from class.\u00a0 After 30 minutes, an absence will be recorded. The teacher will provide a phone contact number.<\/p>\n<p>Advanced notification and documentation are recommended when possible for vacations and personal business.\u00a0 All documented absences, noted under definition of an absence, will be considered excused and will not count toward the cumulative total of absences for a term.<\/p>\n<h2><em>Attendance Intervention Protocol<\/em><\/h2>\n<p>Students with excessive absences are advised that these absences will lead to a reduction in grade.<\/p>\n<p>Parents will receive an automated phone call for each absence.\u00a0 Please call the BACC office at 517-279-5700 if you are not receiving these calls.<\/p>\n<p>Parent\/Guardian will receive an attendance letter on the 5th unexcused absence as well as an automated call to the student&#8217;s parent or guardian when a student is absent.<\/p>\n<p>Teachers will advise the students of the number of absences and encourage the student to provide documentation and attend school.<\/p>\n<p>Students who have 2 unexcused absences or less during a marking period will qualify for an attendance certificate and a special celebration.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ATTENDANCE POLICY The Branch Area Careers Center places a high priority on attendance.\u00a0 The attendance pattern a student establishes at the BACC sets a pattern for their employment or continuing education after graduation from high school.
