\n\t\tCourse Syllabus\n\t<\/h1>\n\t

The Construction Trades Program at the BACC is designed to teach high school students entry-level skills in Carpentry and Basic Construction according to industry standards. Students will be given the opportunity to complete the following 12 segments, as outlined by the Michigan Department of Education \u2013 Michigan Center for Career and Technical Education (CTE) standards and mandates and an additional 13th<\/sup> segment, Employment Skills:<\/p>\n

Segment 1 \u2013 Safety and Career Awareness<\/p>\n

Segment 2 \u2013 Wood\/Fasteners<\/p>\n

Segment 3 \u2013 Blueprints\/Concrete<\/p>\n

Segment 4 \u2013 Floor Framing\/Wall and Ceiling<\/p>\n

Segment 5 \u2013 Roof Framing<\/p>\n

Segment 6 \u2013 Windows and Doors<\/p>\n

Segment 7 \u2013 Siding and Decks<\/p>\n

Segment 8 \u2013 Insulation and Wall Finish<\/p>\n

Segment 9 \u2013 Roofing<\/p>\n

Segment 10 \u2013 Interior Finish<\/p>\n

Segment 11 \u2013 Stair Framing and Finish<\/p>\n

Segment 12 \u2013 Cabinets and Countertops<\/p>\n

Segment 13 \u2013 Employment Skills (job application, resume, job interview, job shadow, etc.)<\/p>\n

Construction Trades students will receive the OSHA 10 Hour Safety Course certification card and will practice safe construction trades skills in the classroom and Construction Trades lab environment. Students will be given the opportunity to learn each task in a classroom setting and then transfer that knowledge to hands-on projects, practicing to a mastery level.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
