Olivia Foley is the Branch Area Careers Center Health Sciences Senior of the Year. Olivia is a Coldwater High School senior who attended the BACC Health Science program as a junior and completed the Health Practicum program her senior year. \u00a0Practicum Externs participate in clinical rotations at our local community hospital, as well as with area health care providers, in addition to classwork and community service. Olivia was among only eleven other candidates to be part of this program. She is certified in CPR and First Aid. Olivia is a member of the BACC\u2019s National Technical Honor Society. She is an active officer in the Career and Technical Student Organization Future Health Professionals (HOSA), serving as Parliamentarian.\u00a0 Her junior year she participated in HOSA Bowl and qualified for the HOSA State competition.\u00a0Her senior year, Olivia was part of the award winning Biomedical Debate team that again qualified for the HOSA State Competition.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0She was also named Student of the Marking Period as a junior and as a senior.<\/p>\n
After graduating\u00a0High School, Olivia plans to attend Juniata College in Huntington, Pennsylvania. She will be pursuing a degree in nursing and participating in college volleyball.<\/p>\n
Cheryl Covell, Health Sciences Instructor selected Olivia for her consistent excellence in class and a positive work ethic.\u00a0 Cheryl says, \u201cOlivia always displays a positive attitude and is eager to learn new skills while pitching in to help staff at every opportunity.\u00a0 She has become an exceptional caregiver in the time she has spent at the ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital this year, performing her role in the hospital like a confident veteran.\u00a0 Mentors love her because she is not afraid to roll up her sleeves and do what needs to be done.\u00a0 She is intuitive and kind, the most valuable combination of characteristics.\u00a0 Her communication with patients resembles that of a much more experienced clinician, and she does it naturally.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
