Megan Barnes is the Branch Area Careers Center Education Academy Senior of the Year. Megan is a Coldwater High School senior who has been attending the BACC Education Academy program for the past two years. She serves as the student representative on the BACC Education Academy Advisory Board. Megan was a student extern with Mrs. Rhonda Machan, in a kindergarten classroom at Max Larsen Elementary School. \u00a0She is an active officer in the Career and Technical Student Organization Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA).\u00a0 Megan served as FCCLA Treasurer last year and FCCLA Secretary this year. Megan is also a member of the BACC\u2019s National Technical Honor Society. Megan was a member of the FCCLA Community Service Challenge \u201cDream Team\u201d winning a gold medal in 2019 and qualified for the FCCLA state conference again this year. Megan was a Power of One Award winner at the state and national levels of FCCLA. Megan has volunteered at the BACC Open House, Parent\/Teacher Conferences, Branch County College Night, BACC ninth and tenth grade Career Development Day, Breakfast with Santa, Children’s Museum of Branch County Princess Tea,\u00a0and Branch Area Food Pantry – Deacon Al Food Distribution volunteer.<\/p>\n
After graduating\u00a0High School, Megan plans to attend Michigan State University to pursue her dream of becoming an elementary teacher.<\/p>\n
Karen Sobeske, Education Academy Instructor selected Megan because for her top academic performance and her obvious passion for teaching. Karen states that Megan \u201cvalues her opportunity to build positive relationships with the kindergarten students and to celebrate their growth.\u00a0 Watching Megan in the classroom it is clear to see how much she cares for her students.\u00a0 She is responsible for a variety of classroom duties ranging from working one-on-one with children to whole class teaching.\u00a0 Megan has developed and implemented many creative lesson plans over the past two years.\u00a0\u00a0Megan conducts herself in a professional manner and\u00a0can always be relied upon to follow through with what she begins and to work at the highest level of productivity.\u00a0\u201c<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
