Joey Smith

Joey Smith is a senior at Quincy High School and enrolled in the Business, Management & Marketing Technologies Program at the BACC. His OJT placement is Corner Store Manager at the Branch Area Careers Center under the supervision of Brittany Wisman. At the Corner Store, Joey is responsible for stocking, filling coolers, tracking inventory, balancing a cash drawer, customer service, interacting with vendors and teaching BMMT students how to operate the cash register and balance their drawer.
Joey believes his OJT training has taught him good work ethic and how to operate his own store in the future. His favorite part about his position is cashing out his customers, the BACC students and interacting with them. Joey knows that he is obtaining the necessary skills to become successful in business and retail. His future plans are to work full time, until he can save money to own and operate his own business. Joey enjoys working at side businesses to earn extra money. He cleans and sells shoes, washes windows, shovels snow and other various jobs.
Joey is a member of Business Professionals of America (BPA) at the BACC. As a junior, he placed at BPA Regionals in Interview Skills and competed at the BPA State Leadership Conference. As a senior, he competed in Small Business Management Team at BPA Regionals. Joey also operated a successful Young Mogul business making custom hats. His business received a Best Product award. At Quincy High School, Joey is a member of the Varsity Football team. His parents are Caleb Smith and Amanda Halcomb.
